Jenny Small has made an outstanding contribution to netball in the Maniapoto and King Country region over many decades as a player, coach, mentor and umpire.
Jenny’s netball journey began at the age of eight while attending Te Kuiti Primary School. Her passion for the sport continued through her years at Te Kuiti High School, where she played for the school’s A team.
At just 16 years old, Jenny was invited to join the Royalans Netball Club
From the age of 14, Jenny also represented both King Country and Maniapoto playing for King Country and the Maniapoto A team. She continued to play representative netball until the age of 35, a testament to her skill, commitment and longevity in the sport.
Her dedication to netball extended beyond playing, as she later went on to coach a number of divisions within the region, helping to guide and develop young players.
Alongside her playing and coaching commitments, Jenny also achieved her umpire’s badge, further demonstrating her commitment to the growth and success of netball within the community.
Jenny was nominated to replace Maniapoto Netball Centres previous Patron Dot Ball after she passed away and she was awarded honours by the Maniapoto Netball Association in recognition of her lifelong dedication and significant contribution to netball in the Maniapoto and King Country regions.

Helping out at the Great New Zealand Muster
The NZ Shears were celebrating 40 years in April. To mark the event and to celebrate the Great NZ Muster we dressed the Main Street Mob in their winter woolies. Thank you Wireless Dynamics for sponsoring the dressing of the sheep.
The day of the Muster dawned warm and sunny. It was a perfect day to welcome 300 visitors off the train who came to see what all the fuss was about.
Legendary Te Kūiti committee members were on the platform handing out NZ Muster bags with a warm smile and the encouragement to fill them with purchases while they were here
